Introduction
Barracuda Archive replaces what was Mimecast “online inbox” which allows you to access an archive of your whole mailbox which contains all your emails regardless of if they had been moved or deleted. It acts as a recovery method if anything was to happen to our data in Microsoft 365 & offers a convenient search option to quickly find old emails as it can be difficult to find older emails with the native Outlook search especially if they have been deleted.
How it works?
The archive is a plugin within your Outlook toolbar, you should see the “Barracuda Networks” section on the Home tab of your toolbar:
The only function you need from this menu is the Search Archive option – all your emails are being automatically archived so you don’t need to manually archive or sync anything.
The first time you use the search you will be prompted with a log in box, this should populate with your email address automatically and you just need to enter your normal password to authenticate the add in. Make sure you select the Cloud Archiving Service:
Once authenticated for the first time, whenever you next use the search, it will take you straight to the search dialogue box:
From here you can simply enter keywords/phrases or use a specific criteria to refine your search.
the Search For box will default to search the entire message, you can specify a location to refine the search:
- Entire message
- Subject or body
- Subject only
- Body only
- Keyword expression
When you see the search results, you can simply double click to open the email. You also get some right click options such as reply/forward & “Copy to Folder” which allows you to save a copy of the email to one of your Outlook folders so you can easily find it in the normal Outlook view and action the email from there:
